Second opinion

A second opinion offers an independent specialist review of an existing diagnosis or treatment plan. It can provide clarity and confidence when you are facing an important decision about your heart care.

What is involved

The consultation involves a careful review of your history and existing investigations, a clinical assessment, and a clear discussion of the findings and options. Where helpful, further tests can be arranged. You will receive a written summary of the consultation.

Areas of focus

This practice focuses on heart rhythm disorders — including atrial fibrillation, palpitations and SVT, syncope, and the role of ablation and cardiac devices — alongside general cardiology questions.

Common questions

When is a second opinion helpful?

A second opinion can be valuable when a diagnosis is uncertain, when you are weighing up treatment options, or when you would simply like an independent review before making a decision.

What should I bring?

It helps to bring relevant letters, ECGs, monitor reports, scan results and a list of your current medication. We can also request information with your consent.

Will you contact my existing doctors?

Only with your consent. A second opinion is intended to complement your existing care, and we will communicate with your GP and other clinicians as you wish.
